This system study focuses on the KATO Jack Pump-150 manufacturing department of KATO International, Inc. from January to December 1999. The system includes all the processes and equipment needed to transform the raw materials into final products. The study begins with a detailed documentation of the present system. Afterwards, a situation appraisal was performed. A total of four strengths, three weaknesses, an opportunity and a threat were identified. It turned out that the system's problem is that The company has unmet demand for seven consecutive months which accounted to an average of 72 units per month or a total of 865 units of KJP-150 during the year 1999. This contributed to an opportunity loss of Php96,777.5202. Cause and effect analysis was performed by the proponent to be able to single out the most probable cause. The most probable cause to the problem is that the company has insufficient manufacturing capacity. After weighing all the alternatives with respect to the must and wants objectives, the proposed solution was the application of the Synchronous Operation Philosophy, to hire an Industrial Engineer, re-layout of the Painting Department and the fabrication of a material handling equipment (dolly). The proposed solution is able to increase the capacity of the system by 61%. This was validated through the use of simulation and would translate to a 7 units increase of KATO Jack Pump - 150 output per day. Implementation of the proposed solution can be accomplished within nine weeks. Activities such as proposal to Top Management, re-layout, cross training, and scheduling of the workers constitute the major activities related in the implementation process. 2000-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/1749 Bachelor's Theses Animo Repository
