Correlates of Filipino women's romantic jealousy: Determining the relationship to love attitude, trust, sex role, self-concept, and self-esteem

The study was done to (a) determine the possible correlations of romantic jealousy to the variables (1) love attitude, (2) trust, (3) sex-role, (4) self-concept, and (5) self-esteem and to (b) determine the significant differences of the high and low jealousy participants across the five variables. Participants were obtained through purposive sampling, gathering 120 female students of De La Salle University, aged 16-22 years old, who have been or are presently into a romantic relationship. Romantic jealousy and the five variables were measured using standardized psychological tests. Results suggest that variables trust, masculinity component of sex-role and self-esteem affected or is related to a woman's romantic jealousy. Findings also suggest that low jealousy participants score lower on love attitude but higher on trust and self-esteem, high jealousy participants score higher on love attitude but lower on trust and self-esteem.
