Oil Watch is an independent website uploaded on http://www.geocities.com.philoilwatch. It contains some basic facts on the Philippine Oil Industry, certain news stories about oil price adjustments, explanation on the factors considered in oil pricing, and information on institutions that play major rules in the oil sector (i.e., OPEC, Department of Energy, government, etc.). The website was constructed using three frames. The top frame (frame 1) contains the title and a scrolling marquee. The left part (frame 2) contains the main menu with 6 topics : Basic Facts on the Philippine Oil Industry, Factors that affect oil Pricing, Institutions involved in the Oil Sector, Current Oil Prices, some Terms and Definitions, and some Trivia and Games page. The remaining area contains the contents. The main page has six parts: news story on the local petroleum industry plus an image, OPEC news, latest information on consumer prices, updates on alternative sources of energy, some useful links and the archives. With the Philippine economy in such a slump and the oil prices being a big contributor to this depression, it would help if the public knows the reasons behind the series of oil price hikes happening in the country. The proponent has obtained the information through extensive research and verification from some personnel in oil companies and government institutions involved. Since websites are an effective way to access information in this electronic age, it would help to provide the people ample information on the factors considered in oil price adjustments, so that they themselves could question, understand and formulate solutions to somehow lighten the effects that this crisis brings. The net can then serve as an advocate for social change and a bastion for critical thinking. 2001-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/1823 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository |
