Abstract. This thesis concerns itself primarily with Kierkegard's three spheres of existence. It would try to provide a new paradigm for Kierkegard's three spheres of existence. It would try to provide a new paradigm for Kierkegard's three spheres by relating it to Irvine Welsh's inspiring novel entitled, Trainspotting . This study would discuss and explain the three spheres-The aesthetic, the ethical, and the religious-while at the same time chronicling the journey of Mark Renton, the lead character of the novel, throughout these spheres of existence. This study would try to incorporate Mark Renton's life to the three spheres of existence and at the same time establish a firm connection between Mark Renton's life and these three spheres. Thus, making the instances in Mark's life sufficient examples to Kierkegaard's three stages. Furthermore, it would be important to take note, that the author in providing a new paradigm for Kierkegaard's three stages, aims to convey his philosophy in a non-theistic or non-religious fashion, paying more attention and importance to the emergence of the true individual arising out of the three stages or three spheres of existence. 2002-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/1836 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository
