Summary:In comparing the undergraduate mass communication programs of several schools and universities, this study tried to describe the similarities and differences of each program. The research design is descriptive taking into account five variables in describing each program. These variables were: program background and history, program mix or curriculum, program resources, faculty and student profile. From a total sample population of 22 schools and universities, six schools were randomly selected. To gather the needed data, a personal interview was done of the chair or vice chair for each program. Of the five variables described, program mix or curriculum was the most important variable. The type and number of faculty hired were determined only after the program mix was established. The number of students admitted to the program was also determined only after the number of courses or curriculum was made. Program resources were also determined on the kind of courses offered. Majority of the programs offered a general mass communication program however their focus or areas of concentration varied.
