Description
Summary:My pet is a 6-minute animation short about an 8-year-old girl and her relationship with her first pet, a chick that is the subject of a class experiment. An an only child and a girl, she is sheltered and mostly kept indoors. She likes to draw and hold tea parties with her doll as her company most of the time. It is when she coincidentally meets this chick that her world becomes a little bit more dynamic. Her relationship with this pet acts as a catalyst in forming new relationships. The visual sytle of this project is influenced by Indonesian shadowplay (Wyang Kulit), the stop-motion animation used in Tim Burton's Nightmare before Christmas (1993), the cut-out animation used in Anthony Lucas's The Mysterious Explorations of Jasper Morello (2005), and the animation end credits of Brad Silberling's Lemony's Snickett's Series of Unfortunate Events (2004). This project aims to realize one that is in between, or Tradigital , a name given by Jeffrey Katzenberg of Dream Works. Tradigital is loosely defined as one that is the middle of 2 dimensions. This project aims to realize a Tradigital project by doing 2-dimensional characters on a 3-Dimensional Environment. To achieve this it made use of Adobe Photoshop, for character modeling and texturing, color correcting, as well as separating layers in tandem with Adobe After Effects, for 3-d space, character key frame animation and rotoscoping. Editing and audio lay-in was done using the Autodesk Smoke.
