This research seeks to investigate the different motivations of male and female practitioners of capoeira, a Brazilian martial art, as expressed in the achievement behaviors of the participants. The study is aimed at helping readers understand the different motivational forces that are realized in the context of alternative sports and the reasons for which these motivations come about in the first place. Another feature of this research is that it investigates and attempts to explain whether the gender of the participant will or will not be a deciding factor in the results produced. 10 participants 5 male and 5 female, with some experience in capoeira were gathered through the use of purposive sampling and were treated as experts. Information was obtained through the use of semi-structured interview method. Results indicated no difference between the motivations of male and female participants and how these were manifested in their achievements behaviors. The findings of this study enhance our understanding of the motivations of male and females involved in alternative sports and how they are expressed in achievement behaviors. 2008-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/2435 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Psychology
