Also included is not just the retelling of this particular history, but also a shorter portion concerning the sugar industry in the Philippines and also, in particular, in Pampanga had been done. The first chapter contains the proposal of the thesis, which includes the Background of the Study, Statement of the Problems and the Conceptual Framework. The second chapter first takes on a brief summary of the sugar industry in the Philippines prior to the establishment of the Pampanga Sugar Development Company, Inc. After this short summary, the rest of the chapter discusses the establishment of the company and the construction of the mill, as well as problems encountered during the process of both. The third chapter takes off from where the second chapter left off, and begins with the first milling season of the company in 1921 until 1929 when the events of the Great Depression started affecting the sugar market. Included here is how the company managed to pay off its debts, where compared to other mills in debt, they shinned. The final chapter tackles events from within and outside the mill from 1929 until 1939. In this chapter the relationship of the planters, tenant farmers and the mill are looked at.
