Anti-inflammatory property of Atalantia retusa Merr. (Rutaceae) non-polar extraction on rats

The continuous search for bioactive compounds capable of effectively inhibiting inflammation has directed the study to investigate on the anti-inflammatory potential of the non-polar extract of Atalantia retusa Merr. leaves using rats as model animals. The anti-inflammatory property of the leaf hexa...

The continuous search for bioactive compounds capable of effectively inhibiting inflammation has directed the study to investigate on the anti-inflammatory potential of the non-polar extract of Atalantia retusa Merr. leaves using rats as model animals. The anti-inflammatory property of the leaf hexane extract was investigated using carrageenan-induced rat paw edema on male Sprague-Dawley rats. The degree of swelling was significantly (P<0.05) reduced by the administration of 1.43 mg/Kg BW starting at 1.0h to 3.0h after carrageenan injection which is comparable with Diclofenac (Sodium Difenax) suggesting the central and peripheral actions of the extract. The current study demonstrated the high impact potential of A. retusa as anti-inflammatory drug. 2009-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/2483 Bachelor's Theses Animo Repository
