Description
Summary:Deforestation is a critical problem in the Philippines where it has brought numerous devastations to both property and to life. The involvement of the public stakeholders has always been recognized as an important corner stone in every natural resource management. This study aimed to explore the attitudes, behaviors and perceptions of respondents who live in selected towns far from the forest in Lucban, Quezon Province. A perception survey was administered to 261 systematically random sampled households situated distal from a forest in Lucban, Quezon Province. Results of the study showed that generally the respondents have a positive forest health perception. Most of the respondents have indicated a strong desire to be informed and involved in forest management decisions. The public perceptions towards forest resources were influenced by both their positive attitudes and the practical values that they attain from the forest resources even though they were situated far from the forest in Lucban, Quezon Province.
