The study focuses on the objective on how mythological concepts can manifest in a work of realism. The novel Ang Tundo Man May Langit Din by Andres Cristobal Cruz was chosen because it is a good example of a work following realist conventions. Joseph Campbell theory of the Heros Journey from his book The Hero with a Thousand Faces was chosen as the framework of analysis because it shows how different mythological concepts can manifest in narratives. The study hopes to contribute by showing how myth can be helpful in enriching a narrative grounded in realist conventions and in doing so, show how myth can be used to enrich the lives of the readers as well. Upon applying the framework to the novel, the findings show that there are several mythological functions that are parallel with the novel, and how these functions can influence our culture as well. Also, through the use of myth, the realist conventions of the novel were enhanced because myth was able to take simple experiences of the Hero in the novel and turn them into extraordinary ones that are meaningful to the formation of the Hero.
