Description
Summary:There has yet to be a data repository specific for organizing information which is readily available on the labels of these skin whitening products. A study would be beneficial not only for consumers but as well for researchers and scientists. Today, there is a huge demand for various beauty products such as for skin whitening. A survey of these products was conducted in different groceries, drugstores, specialty stores and flea markets. Analysis and cross tabulations of the information gathered were done to determine the trends in the industry. Tyrosinase inhibitor is the most common mechanism of skin whitening and glutathione is a popular example of an active ingredient of this mechanism. Skin whiteners are often sold as soaps by local or foreign manufacturers. Prices vary for every ingredient but licorice, which is also a tyrosinase inhibitor, is priced at a higher range compared to the others.
