Description
Summary:This creative writing thesis is a discourse on romantic love as it seeks to differentiate between love and being in love. Love is presented as that which is perfect and pure while romantic love--equated with the state of being in love--is shaped by a variety of experiences, emotions, ideals, and motivations. Romantic love then is shown and explored in the creative project through its different kinds or manifestations. The creative project is a collection of short stories. The short stories embody or demonstrate the different kinds of romantic love. These different kinds illustrate the tension between two conflicting forces of pain and pleasure. Thus, in the stories, the characters' experiences, emotions, ideals, and motivation in romantic love are explored. Through the study done on romantic love and its manifestation in the creative project, romantic love is shown as that which draws a thin--and often entwined--line between pain and pleasure.
