Description
Summary:Psychoanalysis is a relatively unexplored theory in the Philippine academic sphere despite being related to the idea of desire. With the continuous in surge of movie-productions in our country, a growing number of film-texts are available to be studied. This study aims to assess the fundamental relevance of cinema as an apparatus and as a signifying practice of ideology where three film-texts directed by Josey Gosiengfiao will be critiqued in light of Metz, Baudry, and Mulvey's apparatus theory. Moreover, this study will explore the film techniques such as the use of camera and the incorporation of gaze to show how desire is introduced and formulated to the spectators. In so doing, a ruling ideology surfaces which is named as patriarchy.
