Description
Summary:There has been an alarming increase in the number of discriminative and violent acts done towards the LGBTQ community in the Philippines. The most recent data in the Philippines was recorded in 2012 where 156 LGBTQ people were recorded to have been murdered since 1996 and 17 out of 156 occurred during that year itself (Labilles par. 2). The physical and discriminatory violence against LGBTQ community is rooted in different places. One such area worth examining is the call center subculture where there is prominence of LGBTQ people. Kubli is an imagined murder mystery story about a call center agent who faces the difficulty of coming to terms with his own sexuality amidst his investigation of a string of serial murders being done to his homosexual officemates.
