Each and every one of us has his/her own unique identity. But within the billions of people living in our world today, it is hard to distinguish each person without any proof. That is why it is important that we have our own identification cards that are official and not expired to prove we are who we say we are. But in renewing this IDs comes a great deal of effort and monetary expense that, most of the time, we cannot afford especially for those who are staying abroad. That is why the researcher created a system that will enable renewing our IDs anywhere and anytime by taking advantage of web solutions with biometric solutions. The researcher combined attributes identifiers plus biometric identifiers, specially face and fingerprint recognition systems, to create a system that can reliably accept a correct user and, at the same time, reject a false user. But to be able to combine these to web solutions, the researcher acquired and verified face and fingerprint data thru the use of a webcam instead of a dedicated fingerprint scanner for the fingerprint recognition. Tests were made to compare fingerprint recognition using a dedicated device versus a webcam. The results show that with the right preprocessing of the fingerprint image acquired from a webcam, the accuracy rate is at par and even a little better than the fingerprint recognition using a dedicated device with an accuracy rate of 98.33% and 96% respectively. By creating a new way of registering and verifying fingerprints thru a webcam, it is concluded that a web-based ID renewal using face and fingerprint authentication system is a reliable solution because of its high accuracy rate. 2015-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/2860 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Identification cards Biometric identification cards Engineering
