Barangay 26 is a local government unit in Pasay City which aims to fulfill its mandate by increasing awareness of the residents regarding barangay affairs, and to encourage them to become more involved and participative. The Barangay launched a waste segregation scheme last year, March 2016, but there is low percentage of compliance in the waste segregation scheme because the residents in the barangay are not fully aware of it. The audit revealed that the current communication channels used by Barangay 26 for the waste segregation scheme, such as the flyer and house-to-house rounds, are ineffective because it does not provide the residents enough information regarding the proposed behavior. The communication audit resulted to inadequate information about the waste segregation scheme, which fails to inform and motivate the residents to adopt waste segregation. The researcher produced a communication package that includes a script for the house-to-house rounds of the barangay, a booklet regarding the waste segregation scheme and posters which helped to increase the knowledge and awareness of Barangay 26's residents regarding the waste segregation scheme. The communication package also provided enough information that informed and motivated some of the residents to adopt the behavior of waste segregation. Through the evaluation after the implementation of the intervention, it was revealed that the study was able to increase Barangay 26 resident's compliance to the waste segregation scheme from 55% to 78% out of approximately 250 households. 2017-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/2886 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Refuse and refuse disposal--Philippines--Pasay City Refuse and refuse disposal--Philippines-- Pasay City--Information services Communication |
