Description
Summary:The Sound of color is an undergraduate creative writing thesis that seeks to explore the nonlinearity of time and narrative. The story will follow a teenager and her experience living in her family's old home, modelled by the already existing Lazatin heritage house along Consunhi St. in San Fernando, Pampanga, which is rich in history and culture. She meets a young man, a remnant from the conclusion of the Japanese invasion in the Philippines who is trapped in an endless loop of the last parts of his life that restricts him from moving on from this pocket of time with a clear awareness to this cycle and without remedy to its end. The two characters find reconciliation in each other as they tackle their understandings of death and the afterlife, the complexities in love, and intepretations of their personal belief and philosophies. The house becomes a sanctuary in which these two characters can truly express themselves better than they could in the outside world, elements of magic realism enhancing the narrative.
