Following Michael Foucault's statement that there exists facism in us all, in our heads and in our everyday behavior (Foucault xiii), this thesis aims to explore on the concept of facism as fluid, going beyond the normative understanding that it can only be executed by and found in the State - looking into the ways fascism exists even in our most personal relationships, such as the family. Building on Foucault, Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari would further go on to say that we could desire fascism, and using the Bartolome family from Lualhati Bautista's Dekada '70, this thesis aims to analyze this very link of desire to fascism, looking into the instances characters in the novel appear to desire their own repression. Overall, this thesis aims to elaborate on the reciprocal relationship of the household and the State and how fascism in the former further enables fascism in the latter. 2018-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/2947 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Fascism in literature Fascism in motion pictures Comparative Literature
