Terminalia foetidissima, locally known as talisay gubat, is a native plant in the Philippines and is found to have antioxidant and cytotoxic properties. The leaves were obtained from Mt. Makiling, Laguna, Philippines. It was air dried for two weeks, ground with a blender and soaked in dicholoromethane for three days. The extract was concentrated in vacuum and was subjected to a normal-phased open column chromatography under DCM-acetone fraction with an increasing 10% v/v. The samples were then concentrated in vacuum and re-chromatographed. The purity was monitored using thin layer chromatography. Those with similar profile was combined and was re-chromatographed until TLC pure. Ten TLC pure isolated samples were then subjected to 600 MHz 1d ¹H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). It was determined that the isolated compounds are hydrocarbon, squalene, cyloeucalenol, and a mixture of 3-epicycloeucalenol, stigmaterol, and β-sitosterol.
