Description
Summary:Three analytical methods for determining trace quantities of copper namely : complexometric, volumetric and atomic absorption spectrophotometric methods were proven to be comparatively reliable and sensitive up to a low concentration limit of 0.2000 ppm. The optimum lower limit was shown to be 0.4000 ppm. At this concentration and above, the 5 error was less than or equal to 1,00%. A concentration of 0.2000 ppm yielded higher % errors up to 5.00%. The copper content of a sample of malungai leaves were treated using the three methods and yield 0.273 - 0.281 ppm. The Cu content of a sea water sample yielded 0.203 - 0.207 ppm using the three analytical techniques. The narrow range of the results further proves the comparative reproducibility and precision of all the three methods.
