Summary:The Philippines main export is labor work, resulting in millions of OFWs all around the world, especially in the Middle East. The daily life in Saudi Arabia is not normally portrayed to the public audience. Oftentimes, media presents the dangers, crimes, or challenges of living in the Middle East. This screenplay, entitled Deserted homes, is written about the OFW family life form a different angle, focusing on a teenagers day-to-day experiences of having to deal with homesickness and culture shock. Being forced to leave everything and everyone for a new life in a new environment can be very difficult and overwhelming. These challenges are present throughout the story as the main character, Bryan. Moves to Saudi Arabia with his father who works overseas. As problems begin to pile upon one another, Bryan inhibits feeling of loss, acceptance, and longing throughout his journey in a new home.
