Description
Summary:Binakol: ugoy ng kamay at habihan is a photo essay which showcases binakol, an Inabel weave noted for its modern designs which are deeply rooted in ancient culture and heritage featuring the weaving communities of Sarrat, Ilocos Norte who specialize in it. This photo essay features the two weaving communities of Sarrat, Ilocos Norte who specialize in a distinct Inabel design known as Binakol. These weavers, hailing from Sitio Kamangggahan and Sitio Tagpao tell two different stories on the plight of their weaving traditions which is slowly becoming a rare industry. Through the waves of change brought about by the modern times, Binakol has changed just as weavers have. Binakol: Ugoy ng Kamay at Habihan aims to raise awareness for this uniquely Filipino craft which highlights the value of community, culture and heritage.
