Heavy metal content of selected marine macrophytes collected from Santa Cruz Bay and Talbas Strait, Marinduque, with notes on their ecology

The heavy metal content of selected marine macrophytes collected from Santa Cruz Bay and Talbas Strait was determined. Bioaccumulation was measured using the atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The concentrations for copper and cadmium in the seagrass obtained from Santa Cruz Bay ranged between 0.0...

Bioaccumulation was measured using the atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The concentrations for copper and cadmium in the seagrass obtained from Santa Cruz Bay ranged between 0.0646-0.1410 ug/g and 0.0155-0.0950 ug/g respectively. Ranges for copper and cadmium in the algae from Talbas Strait were 0.0496-0.0888 ug/g and 0.0104-0.0392 ug/g respectively. The relative abundance of the macrophyte populations in both sampling sites was determined. The Enhalus acoroides was the most abundant seagrass in Santa Cruz Bay, while the Sargassum crassifolium and the Padina australis were the most abundant macrobenthic algae for Talbas Strait. Physical and chemical parameters were also measured from each site. Data gathered are typical for marine waters. 1993-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/3854 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Marine algae--Heavy metal content--Philippines--Marinduque Seagrasses--Heavy metal content--Philippines--Marinduque Marine plants--Heavy metal content--Philippines--Marinduque Biology
