Summary: | This study explores the different types of lesbians found in the Philippine setting. Twenty working lesbians who are 25 years old and above, maintaining a homosexual relationship for at least one year were the respondents of this study. Typology of lesbians in the Philippines, the dynamics in their current relationships and their experiences in the work setting were presented. Personal accounts of the twenty respondents were gathered through in-depth interviews with the utilization of an interview guide. The results focused on the lesbian's identity formation, the types of lesbians and how it has affected their homosexual relationships and their experiences in the workplace. The results conclude that there are mainly four types of lesbians in the country, namely: Butch, Femme, Politicized/Feminist, and Non-Politicized. Furthermore, these typologies were defined through the kind of relationships they maintain. In the local work place, discrimination among female homosexuals is still evident. |
