Water quality analyses of Laguna de Bay at Putatan, Muntinlupa with notes on the heavy metal content of water and fish caught in the lake

The physico-chemical properties of Laguna de Bay and heavy metal content (lead and cadmium) of water and muscles of Tilapia sp. and Arius sp. were determined for a period of five months. Physico-chemical properties of water such as temperature, pH, salinity, conductivity, total solids and dissolved...

Dolleton, Marie Avigail M. The physico-chemical properties of Laguna de Bay and heavy metal content (lead and cadmium) of water and muscles of Tilapia sp. and Arius sp. were determined for a period of five months. Physico-chemical properties of water such as temperature, pH, salinity, conductivity, total solids and dissolved oxygen were analyzed. Heavy metal content of water and muscles of fishes were measured. The temperature hardly fluctuated and ranged between 27-30.3 degrees celcius. The total solid content ranged between 0.04-0.45 mg/L. The pH varied little and had a ranged between 6.28-7.23 units. Salinity values had a average between 0.00-0.05 g/L. Conductivity extended from 6500-11000 umhos/cm. Dissolved oxygen content was between 6.90-13.15 mg/L. The ranged of the results obtained in the study still fall within the criteria for Class C waters set by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. However, the findings on lead and cadmium content in water exceeded the criteria set by the DENR which was 0.01 mg/L for cadmium and 0.05 mg/L for lead. The mean values were as follows: 0.10-0.23 mg/L for cadmium and 0.27-0.85 mg/L for lead. For muscles of Tilapia sp. and Arius sp., there was no criteria yet. 1995-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/3730 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Tilapia—Heavy metal content--Philippines--Laguna de Bay Water quality--Philippines--Laguna de Bay Biology
