Description
Summary:This thesis is primarily aimed to assist the management of Meralco Transit Organization, Inc. in their current scheduling and forecasting systems of the existing Light Rail Transit System. At present, these operations are implemented on a manual scheme and can consume comparatively more time and manpower than that of computerizing all these modes of operations. The proponents started its preliminary investigations by conducting extensive surveys, researches and series of interviews from the L.R.T. staff, to gather the pertinent data and facts required to set the criteria of the software, particularly on the expert systems component of scheduling. The proponents subsequently analyzed the existing system and designed a software package to significantly minimize the long span of time consumed in performing their operations. SIMULART is a simulation software that forecasts the expected rate of the flow of passengers, thus, becoming the basis for the determination of criteria in developing a computerized schedule. The proponents believe that although the existing system's operations can stand firm on their own, SIMULART can very well help them in making their system, with specific emphasis on the scheduling scheme, a better system in terms of efficiency and reduction of cost.
