Experimental exposure of laboratory mice to metacercariae obtained from Oreochromis mossambicus (c.n. black tilapia )

A study was conducted to determine the infectivity of metacercariae obtained from Oreochromis mossambicus (common name: black tilapia) collected from Pasay City Market located at Libertad, Pasay City. Metacercariae were obtained from the abdominal muscle tissues of O. mosambicus via artificial diges...

Metacercariae were obtained from the abdominal muscle tissues of O. mosambicus via artificial digestion method. Sixteen mice were experimentally exposed to varied dosages of metacercariae (26-78). Four to six weeks post-exposure, the intestines (small and large), liver, lungs and heart were examined for the presence of adult digenetic trematode. No infection of digenetic trematode was observed instead, nematode (Syphacia obvelata) and tapeworm (Hymenolepis spp.) infection were noted. 1998-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/4048 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Helminths—Hosts Mice as laboratory animals Mice--Parasites Mozambique tilapia--Parasites Biology
