Screening for herbicidal activity of soil bacteria in the control of weeds Cenchrus echinatus (kawit-kawitan) and Mimosa pudica (makahiya)

A total of twenty bacterial isolates were obtained from soil samples and roots of Cenchrus echinatus (kawit-kawitan). Seven isolates designated as KS7, KR2, KR3, KR4, KR5, KR7 and KR10 were found to be positive for herbicidal activities against Cenchrus echinatus. On the other hand, of the twenty ba...

These bacterial isolates were assessed in terms of their inhibitory effect on the seed germination activity of a commercially important crop, Phaseolus (MONGGO). Nine isolates designated as KS7, KR2, KR3, KR4, KR5, MS2, MS3, MS4, and MR7 did not retard the germination of the Phaseolus seeds. Hence, these bacterial isolates can be used as effective biological control agents. 1998-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/4038 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Soils—Herbicide content Biology
