Description
Summary:The study showed the difference of the body joint kinematics, ball velocity and ball release angle between different basketball players (both amateur and professional) in the performance of a free-throw shot. The different body joint angles were captured and analyzed with the use of PEAK 5 2-D motion analysis system, and the values for the body joint angles, ball velocity and ball release at the instant of ball release were obtained. The Analysis of variance technique (ANOVA) was used to test for the significance of the gathered data. The results showed that there are no common values among the different subjects for the ball velocity, ball release angle, and body joint angles that determines the success of a free-throw shot, implying that basketball free-throw shooting is an individual skill, and is relative between players.
