An assessment of scismic damage and vulnerability of the bridges in Oriental Mindoro (Baco, Calapan, San Teodoro and Puerto Galera)

This paper presents a proposal to assess the degree of seismic damage and seismic vulnerability of the bridges in Oriental Mindoro particularly in the towns of Baco, Calapan, San Teodoro and Puerto Galera. The 21 bridges present in the said towns will be investigated: first, their degree of damage,...

Bautista, Albert Gene This paper presents a proposal to assess the degree of seismic damage and seismic vulnerability of the bridges in Oriental Mindoro particularly in the towns of Baco, Calapan, San Teodoro and Puerto Galera. The 21 bridges present in the said towns will be investigated: first, their degree of damage, then, their vulnerability to seismic effects. An inspection method proposed by Kazuhiko Kawashima (12) will be used by the proponent in evaluating the level of seismic vulnerability of bridges while in evaluating the degree of damage of the bridges, the combined efforts of the proponent and katahira and Engineers International (10) will be utilized. It is important to know the level of seismic vulnerability of a certain bridge so that it can be compared to the degree of damage sustained by that same bridge. This paper seeks to find out it the bridges that suffered major damages are really highly vulnerable and if the bridges that suffered minor damages are really lowly vulnerable. It seeks the reliability of the inspection method proposed by Kawashima (12) so that in the near future, investigators can try to find out the level of seismic vulnerability of unravaged bridges and carry out the necessary actions before the damages take place. 1995-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/4395 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Earthquake hazard analysis Bridges—Earthquake effects--Philippines--Oriental Mindoro Civil Engineering
