Digitized image enhancement of G-bands in human metaphase chromosome

Human chromosomes were obtained from peripheral blood lymphocytes of normal male and female donors using routine microculture technique. Metaphase cells were G-banded by trypsin. Images of good metaphase spreads were captured using a JVC CCD camera magnified at 768 by 493. Chromosome bands were enha...

Human chromosomes were obtained from peripheral blood lymphocytes of normal male and female donors using routine microculture technique. Metaphase cells were G-banded by trypsin. Images of good metaphase spreads were captured using a JVC CCD camera magnified at 768 by 493. Chromosome bands were enhanced using the Adobe Photoshop software using the Brightness/Contrast and Levels features. The histogram of each processed image was recorded and the sets of enhanced images were presented to the Research and Biotechnology Division's cytogenetics staff and trainees for evaluation. The results of the evaluation using the brightness/contrast feature showed that 82.22% have values of 20/72 respectively. For enhanced images using various level features, shadows, midtones and highlights, 71.56% have input level values of 80/1.00/240 and output level values of 10/255. 1999-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/4262 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Chromosome banding—Imaging, Chromosomes—Imaging Physics
