Description
Summary:The Big Blue Company is into the manufacturing of ladies apparel. The study focused mainly on the Crew neck shirt production of the company. From the evaluations, which were conducted, it was discovered that the company's main problem was the defectives coming out of the production line. Currently, 5.57% of the crew neck shirts coming out of the production line are considered to be defective. This leads to a loss of P 279,461.11 for the year 1998. A thorough analysis revealed that the main cause for the defective shirts is the crude cutting tools used, and the method by which the cloth is layered.";"In order to reach the system objective, which is to stay within the maximum allowable defective rate of 1.75%, a replacement of the cutting tool was utilized. Another addition to the system was the changing of the way the cloth is layered. A sampling procedure, using the MIL-STD-105E was also added. The proposed system enabled the company to reach the defective rate standard set by the company. Upon the correct implementation of the system and through close monitoring, the company would be able to eliminate the causes of these defectives and therefore will be able fall within the objectives of the system.
