Safety is one the most undermined issue in the construction industry. It has been treated as a technical subject in relation to existing government regulating standards and provisions. Previous studies made regarding the condition of safety in the construction industry in the Philippines have put into question the regulating and supervising capability of government agencies such as the Department of Labor and Employment (D.O.L.E.) and have suggested that self regulating procedures be adapted by the construction companies themselves to address their safety concerns. The study's main focus is safety management and its surrounding essential elements in its effective application. In the study the group have clearly identified these essential elements and the necessary characteristic each element should posses for its effective application in the company or organization. From the survey results made by the group of some construction companies operating in Metro-Manila, the group found out that construction companies classified as triple-A are more involved in managing their respective safety programs. The group also made a company case study of three companies currently applying safety management in their respective safety programs. The results of company case study suggest that the application of safety management have positive benefits to each of the company's over-all safety performance. 2001-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/4203 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Construction industry—Safety measures Civil Engineering |
