The design of plate girders involves a lot of complicated manual calculations. It requires numerous iterations thus, resulting in long computations and a higher probability of human error. Hence, to ensure accurate values computerizing plate girder designs reduces the time and effort required in accomplishing such. The software was developed using Visual Basic. The design computations are based on the Allowable Stress Design Method (ASD). Most of the computations are based on the AISC Manual of Steel Construction as well as the National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP) Vol. 1, 4th Edition are also followed in the computations. The computations include the design for the flange, web, and the design for the bearing and intermediate stiffeners. It also includes the design for a bearing plate as the connection. The designs, however, are limited to a W shaped section. In the future, further research may be conducted for the use of other shapes. 2000-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/4201 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Plate girders--Design and construction Civil Engineering
