It claims that the concept of postmodern parody defined by Linda Hutcheon in her book The Politics of Postmodernism (1989) is the derivation of pleasure - that which the researcher refers to as parodic pleasure. In the process, the concepts of Soledad Reyes on pleasure which can be seen in her book, Aliw: Selected Essays on Popular Culture (2000), and in her reading, The Romance Mode in Philippine Popular Culture (1998), supplement the study. Moreover, Rolando Tolentino's books on popular culture, Kulturang Mall (2004) and Paghahanap ng Virtual na Identidad (2004) facilitate the analysis of the text. This study also examines the political aspects of the employment of this kind of parody. The study focuses on the analysis of the parody of the virtual space and the Catholic references. It probes the role of the virtual space as a transgressive and egalitarian tool, and defines its purposes. On the other hand, a complex representation of Catholicism in the Philippines has also been emphasized. The study establishes a recognition of the correlation of both the past and the present." 2005-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/4926 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Bob Ong.
