Calibration estimation and post-stratified estimation on the labor force survey

Post-stratified and calibration estimations are two methods for improving the quality of the survey by reducing the sampling variance of the estimate after utilizing auxiliary information. These were carried out in the 2005 Labor Force Survey to estimate the total number of unemployed. Obtained esti...

Lim, Joseph Erickson C. Post-stratified and calibration estimations are two methods for improving the quality of the survey by reducing the sampling variance of the estimate after utilizing auxiliary information. These were carried out in the 2005 Labor Force Survey to estimate the total number of unemployed. Obtained estimates were then compared in terms of the properties of the estimates and the design effect. Results showed that calibration is better than post-stratification estimation in terms of standard error. The coefficients of variation of the estimates obtained using calibration estimation was slightly lower than that of the post-stratified estimates. Most of the coefficients of variation of the estimators are greater than 10 percent. Meanwhile, in terms of design effect, through the use of weights, calibration estimation is better at the national level but in the some regions of the country, post-stratification have lower design effects. 2008-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/5075 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Labor supply--Philippines--Statistics, Manpower--Philippines--Statistics Mathematics
