Chang, Chiao Feng Tiling has always been a tedious and very critical task to do. It requires a skilled mason in order to do a job very well. The conventional way of tiling uses a tile to area ratio for the estimation of the number of tiles required for a given room. However, some tiles that come into contact with the room edges are needed to be cut for it to fit. During this cutting process, some of the tile wastage occurs due to tiles shattering while it is being cut. Nowadays, the masons are provided with modern tile cutting equipment such as an edger, to maximize tile breakage. However, the estimation of the tile to be cut is done by trial-and-error, and this causes wasted tiles. This study aims to address these issues, by making a software system that will be able to make an estimation of the number tiles needed for a given room, and this system will provide print-outs of tile guides, which will be used for tile cutting. The system intends to reduce the amount of time and material spent in cutting of tiles. Through utilizing the combination of trigonometric and digital signal processing algorithms, together with an assembled digital camera setup utilizing a laser pointer and a tripod, the system is able to obtain the floor presentation of rooms from a set of digital images taken from a reference point inside the room. The floor plan, as well as the tile layout can be automatically performed by the system. In addition, the system may serve as a foundation for future researches in the field. 2009-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/5210 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Tiles Tile laying Cutting Computer Sciences
