Description
Summary:Different situations have specific impacts on a person's life. Some individuals are able to cope faster than others based on their previous knowledge and experience. Children being less experienced and therefore less knowledgeable in terms of dealing with emotional traumas, is the target audience for this thesis. This thesis project hopes to provide children with knowledge on how to cope with one such as emotional trauma. Thus, the subject of loss is concentrated on because this issue is close to the proponents of this project. Furthermore, the subject of dealing with loss is expounded upon in that one can lose his or herself looking for that lost important thing, may it be an object or a person. As a result, if one loses themselves looking for something that is probably already lost, they become the lost thing to the person who holds them dear. The proponents believe that they can achieve this message through this thesis project. Due to the thesis being targeted at children, the proponents decide that a short animated feature is the best suited medium. Also, this medium is the most entertaining for children. Consequently, the proponents choose a young animal to be the protagonist because they believe that children are attracted to stories with cute animals in them. Additionally, a kitten is chosen to be the main character for the reason that it is more logical for a kitten to be on the streets of a city and be independent. The proponents pick a small orange ball to be the lost item of the kitten for it would be more common for balls to be seen around a city and it could be mistaken for a basketball if seen from a distance. They also added the mother cat to further associate the main moral of the story for the mother cat loses the mother cat to further associate the main moral of the story for the mother cat loses the kitten, which has gone in search for his favorite toy. This study does not provide the target audience all alternatives to deal with the issue of loss, but instead it seeks to provide a simple way for them to cope with loss-through acceptance. As such, this thesis shows that you must accept loss because you may be lost in the process of non-acceptance. The objective is hopefully achieved by providing children situations to cope with loss so that they would be well equipped with the knowledge to handle the situation better once they are faced with it.
