Summary: | Our research study focuses on the political machineries employed by Gov. Joey Lina in the 1995 elections, specifically the components of such machineries, like material incentives (money, job, gifts, etc.) and other mechanisms/expenditures, human resources, and political party. These will help in the identification of resources and strategies that were also used.Furthermore, the study focuses on the dyadic, patron-client relations that existed between the national and the local politicians of the province of Laguna, and with the electorates the relevance of electoral manipulation as an act done to influence voting behavior and election results and the human and financial resources employed by Lina. The research then, concludes that Gov. Joey Lina had more advantage than Tingzon, Luna and San Luis. As evidenced with the votes garnered by Lina in most of the towns of Laguna, and the machine politics employed. Governor Joey Lina was supported by his party mates from the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino and he was also able to win the hearts of the electorates specially the indigents, since he really went down to the grass-roots level during the campaign. |
