Description
Summary:Beauty pageants--along with television shows, advertisements, and women magazines--have established a standard of beauty, this being skinny, fair-skinned with flawless features (Hoover). Fitting into the standard of beauty also means possessing almost all types of social advantages (Webster and Driskel 141).Beauty pageants are a means for some women to become functional in society (Banderlipe 155). While beauty pageants are supposed to showcase a woman's talent and skills, physical appearance is considered crucial in winning a title (Banderlipe 152). This thesis/study tells a story of a woman greatly affected by the society's ideals regarding beauty and power as she leads to becoming obsessed of keeping up with it and the consequences it will bring.
