The design provides an Exterior Post-Tensioning (EPT) design that enables a structural steel beam to be retrofitted after it reaches conditions beyond its yield point.This study consists of a test wherein the beam is tested without and with EPT, respectively. Analysis of data through graphs and tables were presented and the effectiveness of the exterior post-tensioning was measured. The EPT was analyzed according to its consistency, serviceability, and load capacity. Data shows that the EPT was able to compensate the weakness of the beam due to excessive loads. Results show that EPT can be applied again and again with no significant change in its effectiveness. Furthermore, in observance of its serviceability, the beam with applied EPT was able to exceed the original strength of the beam.
