Dynamics of irrigation efficiency and farm productivity on the Nayom Bayto River Irrigation System: A system dynamics analysis

This study looks for ways of simulating and testing how these factors interact with each other in order to arrive at a policy that would increase the efficiency and productivity of the system, especially at the farm level.A formulated model using the STELLA5 software shows that there are two main variables that affect the farm level operation. These are (1) NIA's efforts and (2) influence of fellow farmers or word of mouth. Based on the assumptions made and on the results of the simulation runs, NIA's effort is more critical than Word of Mouth influence in the farm level.With a better understanding of the interaction of the different variables at the farm level, proposed policies were suggested in order to allow the increase in productivity and efficiency of the system. The generated policies showed that effectiveness of NIA's effort is very important to the increase in productivity at the farm level.
