"Death is a significant and universal family experience" (Somerville 209).The loss of loved one especially in the family is said to be one of the most stressful events in an individual's life and may entail serious problems for the person both physically and emotionally (Fournier and Weber 43).The first of the four phases in mourning is shock and numbness. This is where a person feels a sense of discomfort or lack of familiar balance in one's life because of the overwhelming news of death (Corr, Nabe and Corr 219). It is a natural defense against bad news and unwanted pain (Corr, Nabe and Corr 219). After a while, the pain begins to penetrate the shock barrier and the magnitude of the pain is realized leading to the following stages of mourning, which can make the experience of coping with death easier. 2011-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/5254 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Loss (Psychology) Bereavement Feature films Communication
