Summary:This study is concerned with the System Study on Inbound Operation of North Distribution Center. Their problem is being addressed in the system is that the average truck dwelling time for the months of January to June 2010 is 2 hours and 10 minutes longer than the NDC's standard time of 6 hours. This has resulted to the delay of stock availability and because of this the pull-in effectiveness is 6% lower than the NDC's standard pull-in effectiveness of 95% costing the company a penalty cost of PhP3,144,666.67. The root causes identified that significantly impacts the main problems are as follows: average pallet per man-hour is 22% lower than NDC's standard, poor method in documentation of items, manual offloading does not meet the standard set by the company, and shortage of pallets and storage bins. The proposed system are (1) Material Type Zoning in Unloading Bay/ (2) Preemptive Replenishment of Pallets. (3) Installation of portable conveyor roller belt. (4) Installation of Visual Display Monitor.
