Summary: | St. Peter and Paul Medical Clinic Incorporated (SPPMCI), diagnose their clients in relation to their medical condition. The main clients of SPPMCI are from the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) who is vying to land a job overseas. OFW workers compose 91% of the total clients catered by the company. SPPMCI offers their client's medical certificates that would certify their medical condition for overseas employers. The medical clinic of SPPMCI is located at in the corner of Arquieza St. and A. Flore St. in Malate, Manila. Currently the company caters to an average of 4800 clients per month. These clients are diagnosed and given a Pre-Employment Medical Examination (PEME) and results are delivered to the clients within 48 hours. The PEME exam is comprised of diagnosis from the different sections of the medical and paramedical departments of SPPMCI. The medical and paramedical department are composed of several sections radiology, laboratory, physical examination, audiology, optometry and dental section.The company certifies the medical condition of OFW applicants, thus, employers expect that OFW workers certified by SPPMCI are fit for the job and healthy. On the other hand, SPPMCI incurs repatriated workers, these are the workers that are sent abroad but are diagnosed to have an ailment in the foreign country. Because of the failure to detect the sickness of their clients, SPPMCI incurred a total of 22 repatriated workers that incurred a cost of Php 2,565,200.00 in the year 2011. After the evaluation of the probable causes, several causes were identified and validated through the Why-Why diagram. Through the data collected, the causes of repatriation are fatigue (Errors are committed in the afternoon), lack of skill (no training program for the employees), complacency in their work ethic and the lack of quality control policy. These causes are validated and are treated to be the root cause of the wrong diagnosis released by SPPMCI. It has also been observed that repatriations incurred by SPPMCI were traced back majority of which was due to the radiology section (13 Repatriations) and the psychology section (3 Repatriations).The proposed solution is to have a training program and work shifting that is aimed to reduce or possibly eliminate the root causes of repatriation in the company. The training program structure for the company is aimed to train and sharpen the skill of workers when it comes to diagnosing the medical condition of clients. On the other hand, the work shifting is structured to address the fatigue, complacency in their work ethic and lack of quality control policy it is proposed to add workers to reduce the fatigue of employees in conducting the medical examination. Through the addition of workers in the radiology and psychology section, the group has also proposed to include a quality control supervisor (checker) to address the lack in quality control policy and possibly eliminate complacency in their work ethic.";"The computed NPV for the proposed solution at 50% effectiveness of the proposed solution in computed to be Php 911, 044.00 In addition the company will be able to recover its initial investments in 0.445 Months.
