Description
Summary:The effects of Ganoderma lucidum extracts to the morphological development and heart rate of zebrafish embryos was measured using the stereozoom microscope with a built in digital camera for better visibility of the embryos' dimensions and heart rate (bpm). One hundred sixty embryos were divided into 8 groups that were labeled according to the level of concentrations of the Ganoderma lucidum treatment that was used 0.05%, 0.25%, 0.5%, 1%, 5%, 10%, and 20% while the control group was placed in normal aquarium water. The treatments were administered chronologically for 24 hours post fertilization (hpf), 48 hpf, and 72 hpf respectively to test for the effects of the Ganoderma lucidum treatment on the different stages of embryological development for both the heart rate and the morphological dimensions. The Ganoderma lucidum treatment showed teratogenic effects to the embryos morphological dimensions. Interestingly, the treatment showed significant (P<0.05) changes in the heart rate as the level of the concentration increases.
