Escobar, Karl Vernon B. Ong, Katrina Isobel G. The study focused on the perceived effects of caregiving among in-house caregivers. Perceive effects were further divided according to physical and psychological, namely stress and depression. Also, the study aimed to determine the coping strategies that caregivers employ in order to handle their life. Using a descriptive research design, chain referrals was used to gather 51 respondents to complete and answer the scales, twelve of which were chosen as the respondents for the last interview. Hamilton Depression Rating Scale and the Perceived Stress Scale were used to attain the data needed. Hamilton was used to further explain the level of depression, while the Perceived Stress Scale was used to know and assume the level of stress of the caregiver respondents. This study further explained the perceived psychological effects of caregiving tasks to caregivers. The results of the study showed that stress and depression were the psychological effects. The examples of the perceived physical effects were body pains, fatigue, and insomnia. These result from tedious and long hours of caregiving tasks. The findings showed that caregivers had many possible ways of coping, every caregiving situation requires different coping strategies depending on the gravity of work. This study concluded that caregiving might in fact have perceived effects on caregivers. 2004-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/5747 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Caregivers Home care services Psychology |
