Description
Summary:The purpose of this study is to address the inability of the prospective students, staff and tourist of De La Salle University to have glimpse of the campus due to geographical, economical and physical limitations. With the objective of generating an online interactive 3D map of St. La Salle Hall Ground Floor featuring navigation and measurement tools, the proponents utilizes the Kinect depth camera, MATLAB software and Potree point cloud viewer to complete this study. Numerous images and point clouds are gathered from St. La Salle Hall serving as data for manipulation using Panorama View, Spherical Model, ICP and Rigid Transformation processing. Due to the lack of depth component and limited area coverage of the Panorama Viewer and the Spherical Model, these methods were only used as a supplementary data to accommodate the limitations of the 3D representation. The ICP and Rigid Transformation serve as the main methods concluded to perform for this study. Both method accept point cloud data and point cloud processing with MATLAB functions available. Through the methods, the 3D map is generated and uploaded to the website created accessible for user viewing and navigation. The proponents attain the objectives set to serve the motive of the study.
