Description
Summary:The study compared the sensitivity and efficiency of three analytical methods for the determination of cerium (IV) namely, volumetric analysis, atomic absorption spectroscopy, and colorimetric method. Cerium (IV) sulfate solutions with different concentrations were used as analytes. Results show that volumetric analysis exhibited higher precision than Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy. No trends in sensitivity versus concentration were observed. The upper and lower concentration limits by which cerium (IV) can be determined colorimetrically were obtained. Measurements showed that colorimetric method can be used for trace analysis. This was further confirmed by the large value of slope calculated from the calibration curve.
